Gurpal and Amarjeet spread their Sikh wedding over a couple of days – not to mention locations with some taking part in Coventry and the other in Essex. It made for a wonderfully varied celebration of their union. We started out in the family home where everyone was involved in preparations. While mom and aunties were cooking in the kitchen, the children were busy outside laying out spices for one of the wedding rituals. Everyone gathered to enact a wedding ritual for the bride which involved anointing her with various emollients. Naturally this was followed up with lots of eating! After dark, candles were lit and dancing took place. It seemed like great fun.
Another day the bride wore all of her wedding finery (and posing for fantastic photographs to remember it all) before being driven to the Coventry Gurdwara for the Sikh wedding ceremony. The ceremony was lovely and involved several readings, prayers and the exchange of rings. On another day they had a lovely wedding reception in Essex where Gurpal and Amarjeet cut their wedding cake (and fed each other a piece). After eating, our wedding couple took to the floor for their wedding dance – executing it perfectly. While they started out solo on the dance floor, they were soon followed by all the wedding guests and great party ensued. We wish Gurpal and Amarjeet all the best.
Haleema and Humza chose The Fennes, in Essex as their venue for their Muslim wedding reception. With a talented make-up and hair person on hand to assist, the girls were soon ready to present themselves (and looking beautiful). Meanwhile The Fennes staff were hustling around doing the final preparations and ensuring that the marquee was all set-up and ready for their reception. Before long the guests started to pour in, eager to see Haleema and Humza. We sent a camera operator about to capture some of the venue sights, taking in the fountains and green lawns and some of the fine architectural details of The Fennes. It makes for some nice detail which we can cut into the final video. Our lovely bride made an entrance trailed by many family members all carrying red roses. She met the groom and they posed for many photographs as a family unit. With the photos complete, it was time to eat. The kitchen had been working double-time to prepare all the food and soon it was served up to the appreciative guests. The dinner conversation bubbled throughout the room and we made our way about with the camera to capture suitable footage. After dinner, it was time for Haleema and Humza to cut the wedding cake – and once again the cameras came out. They posed like pros. When the time came for them to leave, their families followed them out to the car to wish them well. Let us join in their good wishes!
There’s something really nice about having a wedding all in one location, it means that you don’t have to factor transportation into the plans (not that we don’t love some of the creative ways people come up with to ferry their wedding party about) and it makes the day flow easily from one thing to the next. When you couple that convenience with a great location, like The Fennes Estate in Essex, which Louise and Jonathan chose for their Jewish wedding, it makes for a winning mix. They were helped by a beautiful August day, which meant much of the wedding could be enjoyed outside. We followed Louise as she went about busying herself to prepare for her nuptials, and we were there to capture the finished product which was stunning! The guests found their way to white covered chairs which were stacked in neat rows on the deep green grass. Louise walked up the ‘aisle’ in her stunning white dress and every eye was on the bride. She met Jonathan under the canopy where they made their wedding vows.
The couple took full advantage of the location for some really fantastic wedding photos – they showed real imagination in how they posed and the locations the used and the results are fantastic. It was great to be involved in your wedding day – thank you Louise and Jonathan!

Louise and Parjam are a couple full of surprises! It’s not often that we see a groom take to the stage to rock out with the band on the electric guitar! Nor do we have a bride with such a good throwing arm that she tosses her bouquet well over the heads of all the assembled throng! It’s these kind of moments which are so priceless to capture on video. We have no doubt that Louise and Parjam will enjoy reliving those moments for a long time to come!
Their wedding day started on a bit more traditional vein. We filmed Louise preparing for the big day in her home in Essex before meeting the groom at the altar for their Church Wedding at All Saints Church in Chigwell. The church was heaving with flowers and the guests were all done up in morning suits and elegant hats. It was a very classy affair.
When the vintage white Rolls Royce drove them to the reception at Stockbrook Manor there were rows of champagne glasses waiting to greet everyone. At the reception they observed some of the Persian wedding traditions which were significant to Parjam’s family. We also liked the undulating dance which accompanied the presentation of the knife in order to cut the wedding cake! It was great fun to watch. We wish much joy and happiness to this bubbly and original couple.
A few months ago we decided to launch our own Facebook Page as a way of interacting with past, present and future clients. We now upload highlights of different jobs to the page as they are completed, so visitors can see our range of work and make comments in an easy, friendly environment. I am pleased to say it is very popular, with clients taking a keen interest in the videos and newcomers watching these as a source of inspiration. Indeed our videos seem to not only serve as an example of good videography, but provide an excellent source of ideas for planning their wedding or event!

At the start of this month Bloomsbury Films was neatly packed up into boxes and moved across town to a new studio location in London’s trendy East End. Taking advantage of the hard hit property market on the periphery of London’s financial district, we were lucky to find a 1500 sqft unit in a converted warehouse that would suit our needs now and in the foreseeable future.

A stone’s throw from Brick Lane, it is conveniently close to Aldgate & Aldgate East tube stations as well as Tower Gateway DLR. From these new offices we continue to operate our sales & administration, video kit storage and maintenance, production planning where our director’s overseeing all our projects. Over the coming months we shall also be introducing additional in-house studio facilities that will enable us to extend our range of services.
We’re very excited about the move, especially as we continue to expand the range of services provided by Bloomsbury Films. Although wedding videos are still currently our biggest market, we are beginning to attract more types of live event filming including interest from businesses for conference filming. We hope you will be able to pay us a visit sometime!
Perhaps this a reflection of being based in London, but perhaps also it shows the growing acceptance in our society for marriage based on love and like-mindedness, rather than seeking a cultural safety net. A particularly good example of this is Shahara & Christophers wedding which we filmed at York House, Richmond in early August. Shahara is from a Muslim Bengali family and Christopher from a traditional English one. In marrying Shahara, Christopher not only adopted a new family, but a new (Muslim) name. When I met them both months prior to their wedding, it was clear they were both very much in love and that whilst Christopher may not have have grown up in a Muslim/Bengali lifestyle, he was more than willing to adopt one.
I like their video very much, and the trailer shows their coming together well. They had splendid weather on the day and I am glad that there was a lot of opportunities for filming outdoors – which I always believe looks so much better than filming indoors! We have done several Bengali wedding videos of late including a stunning Bengali wedding in Newcastle, but this is the first mixed Anglo-Bengali marriage I am aware of filming.
