Check out these moves on display from Alex and his Stags – they put on a heck of a show at this fun wedding at the Four Seasons Hampshire. It started with just one of them doing his best Michael Jackson… but it didn’t end there, oh no. You have to say he’s got some pretty good moves going on complete with popping moon walk, no? Not to be shown up, one by one the stags also took to the floor to show off their stylish dance moves (well, some more stylish than others, but still…). It resulted in a kind of cross between Riverdance and Morris Dancing (with a dash of Monty Python thrown in for good measure). Perhaps not for purists, but very entertaining none-the-less. Dividing in half, they then began to compete with each other, each side trying to out-do the other. Someone put some real thought into these routines and the patterns they form on the dancefloor. Alright, their execution isn’t perfect, but is sure is funny and hats off to these guys for taking it on.
Not content to just give their audience one dance, the sunglasses came out ready for their next number – a rocking twisting booty-slapping selection! Highly entertaining and it was great for us to be there to film this live event.
It is sometimes easy to think that ‘you’ve seen one wedding, you’ve seen them all.’ Many follow a traditional sequence of events – which can be wonderful and in many cases it is what the bride has dreamed of her whole life – but occasionally people are looking for something a little bit different. This is it. The Soprano Bella team of singing waiters had the audience in the palm of their hands at this recent wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire. The look on the audiences faces when ‘Maria’ burst into ‘I Feel Pretty’ was priceless! They did such a good job of setting up the gag. But in their hands, it is more than just a ‘gag’ because they are such great singers. It is rare to find such a flair for comedy coupled with such stellar voices.
Live event filming is one of our specialties and it always impresses us all the very talented people out there that we encounter as we go about filming weddings. When both of the singers came together to sing the famous duet from Lakmé (known widely as the British Airways song) they brought about a fitting end to their act. We hope to encounter Soprano Bella at a future event as they are wonderful!
Channi Singh is the godfather of Bhangra music in the English-speaking world, so it was a particular thrill to have him sing live at this wedding at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel (London). For us, it was exciting to capture his live event performance on video. The response from the audience as soon as he was announced was incredible – the cheers immediately started and the hands started to clap above their heads. As founder, lead singer, producer and director of Alaap, he has performed around the world in places like Madison Square Gardens and The Royal Albert Hall, so to be up close and personal with him at the Intercontinental was a great treat for these wedding guests.
When Channi Singh sings, he has a perpetual smile on his face. His delight in making music is palpable. Channi is not one to separate himself from his fans too as he wades out into the dancing crowd to embrace some of the guests – many of whom appear absolutely thrilled. Clearly everyone is hoping for a slice of the limelight because as Channi sings various wedding guests pop up on stage with him to be near him! He takes it all in his stride – what a pro.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ stars Suleman Mirza and Madhu Singh of Signature made a guest appearance at this Asian wedding reception at the Osterley Park Hotel in London. We often film live events but the Punjabi Cleaner and Michael Jackson are among the more entertaining we have seen. The camaraderie between Mr Mirza and Mr Singh is very entertaining – and there is no doubt that this is one of the leading Michael Jackson tribute acts. He has the moves down to perfection from the cock of his head to the flick of his foot; it’s like watching Michael in the flesh.
It’s evident from the boisterous clapping of the wedding guests that they were thrilled with this surprise guest appearance. When the two men come together their moves skilfully blend those of Michael Jackson with the Bollywood style: it’s as if Michael has gone to Bollywood to collaborate! Who knows if he had lived longer, maybe that would have been a direction he would have pursued? We particularly like when the Punjabi cleaner gets his moment to show his funky stuff! Very entertaining. His body popping moves are every bit as styled as the Michael Jackson moves and show a real mastery of his craft. We hope that we will see Signature again at another wedding!
When the announcement was made that ‘the next 15 minutes are going to blow your mind,’ did anyone really have a sense of what they were in for? ‘Signature’ – the group which first came to nation’s attention on Britain’s Got Talent – were making an appearance at an Indian wedding reception at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The guests quickly crowded around the floor to get a better view. What they saw was a single man, dressed like Michael Jackson in his black suit. Then he started to dance! From his moonwalk to his arm ripples, it was like watching Michael himself! The camera phones quickly came out and people tried to capture footage of what they were seeing. The bride and groom clapped along looking delighted with the events.
Signature, made up of performers Suleman Mirza and Madhu Singh, are a great double act. Turns out the announcer at the beginning soon wanted to take his turn on the dance floor! Turns out he is just as talented! The music switched from Michael Jackson to Bollywood and Madhu Singh showed how adept he is at Bollywood style of dance. The two work really well off each other and their mock competition to see who could dominate was very entertaining! If you get a chance to see Signature perform, we highly recommend them.
At the start of this month Bloomsbury Films was neatly packed up into boxes and moved across town to a new studio location in London’s trendy East End. Taking advantage of the hard hit property market on the periphery of London’s financial district, we were lucky to find a 1500 sqft unit in a converted warehouse that would suit our needs now and in the foreseeable future.
New Bloomsbury Films Office
A stone’s throw from Brick Lane, it is conveniently close to Aldgate & Aldgate East tube stations as well as Tower Gateway DLR. From these new offices we continue to operate our sales & administration, video kit storage and maintenance, production planning where our director’s overseeing all our projects. Over the coming months we shall also be introducing additional in-house studio facilities that will enable us to extend our range of services.
We’re very excited about the move, especially as we continue to expand the range of services provided by Bloomsbury Films. Although wedding videos are still currently our biggest market, we are beginning to attract more types of live event filming including interest from businesses for conference filming. We hope you will be able to pay us a visit sometime!
