About this project

The very tall and charming Zak came to our studio last Summer to discuss plans for his three day wedding celebration. He joked that the three day celebration was ’expected of him’ by his family! After our meeting he booked our signature Cinematic style film and photography. A few weeks later we began planning the project with him, gathering details of the various events he had planned.

Production

The wedding took place in the Autumn and began with a traditional Mendhi night in Southall. A week later a Rukhsati (the traditional moment in Muslim weddings when the bride takes leave of her family). This event was hosted at Baylis House in Slough and it was the first time we saw the beautiful Samina. This event involved lots of formal pictures but it was clear Zak and Samina were very comfortable in each other’s company. The final day was the Walima, traditionally the groom’s family reception in a Muslim wedding, held at The Park in Stoke Poges. This was a slightly more relaxed event, with time for a couple photoshoot in the grounds, lots of guests mingling and a fun photobooth!

Behind the Scenes

As Muslim weddings often don’t have speeches, at the planning stage we felt it was important to capture video messages from guests on both days. This ensured we had lots of personalised content for their Asian wedding video and highlights trailer. Videography on the day was carried out by our senior cinematographer Hanif using Canon cameras with prime lens and specialist grip. The three day shoot went well and we were particularly pleased to capture footage of the couple in the grounds at The Park. Filming weddings within four walls can look samey, so exterior material certainly added to the shoot. Studio editing on the whole project took about a month and everything went fairly smoothly. As always, we did a lot of fine tuning with picture, music and dialogue. We are happy with the results!
